Big Birdy’s Backyard has grown into one of the most iconic Backyard Ultras on the Australian calendar. As the original World Series–affiliated Backyard Event for Ultra Series, Birdy’s has been the stage for extraordinary feats, unforgettable moments, award-winning documentaries, and even Australian records.
This is the course that nurtured some of the greatest names in the sport – including former world record holder Phil Gore – and helped propel Western Australia to the top of the world stage. Together with its sister race, Herdy’s Frontyard Ultra, Birdy’s has made WA the number one state on earth for runners breaking through the coveted 24-, 36-, and 48-hour barriers.
